JUNE 16-SEPTEMBER 13, 1999
Classic children’s books illustration is a genre that evokes the senses and imagination of children, both young and old. Dreaming Eyes of Wonder: Classic Children’s Book Illustrations presents illustrations from the late nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, which set the tone and standard for all children’s book illustrations. The exhibit will feature book illustrations from Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland by artists Ernest Howard Shepard and John Tenniel, respectively. The work of N.C. Wyeth, Howard Pyle, Paul O. Zelinsky, and Jessie Wilcox Smith will also be featured.
