MARCH 6-SEPTEMBER 18, 1999
In Sight and Insight, New York City realist painter and illustrator Burton Silverman presents pictorial, representational art at its finest. Silverman’s work has met with critical success in the arenas of art instruction, graphic illustration and gallery painting. His art relates to traditions of European and American realism while updating that legacy with acute perceptions of contemporary experience in a techno-urbanized world. In this exhibit, of more than 45 recent works, the artistic legacy of Degas, Hopper and Eakins is reconceptualized. Sight and Insight presents Silverman’s unflinching vision of and insights into the human condition in the late 20th century through exceptional craftsmanship and composition.
