What’s British About British Art?: Forging a Style from Holbein to Hodgkin

Kathleen Stuart, curator at the Denver Art Museum and organizer of the exhibition Treasures of British Art 1400-2000: The Berger Collection, will speak to audiences about the exhibition and the significance of the artworks in tracing the evolution of British culture. The exhibition is made up of one of the finest British art collections in the United States and features masterpieces by familiar artists including Hans Holbein, Anthony van Dyck, Joseph Wright of Derby, Angelica Kauffman, and Thomas Gainsborough.
 

About Kathleen Stuart

In addition to organizing the exhibition Treasures of British Art 1400-2000: The Berger Collection (2014), Kathleen Stuart also wrote its catalogue. Before joining the Denver Art Museum in 2007, she worked for fifteen years in the drawings department at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York City. Stuart is currently working on a project involving the Berger Collection’s holdings of Tudor and Jacobean portraits.
