Japanese Woodblock Prints On View

In connection with the Civ at the MOA website, the MOA will showcase original works on paper in the Print Study Room on select dates for open viewing and study. This resource is designed specifically to give GE teachers more ways to engage with the MOA’s permanent collection. These prints will be on view Wednesday, October 30 – Friday, November 1 from 10 AM to 4 PM each day.
From BYU’s permanent collection, this display showcases 12 prints made from intricately carved woodblocks created during Japan’s time of isolation from 1639 to 1854. These original prints show entertainers, urban life, the popular culture and serene landscapes of Japan during this time period. Their elegant and colorful aesthetics have intrigued and inspired viewers for centuries.
