Home: Space, Place, and Urban Trends

Join us for this fast-paced interdisciplinary exchange as four of your favorite BYU professors discuss topics related to our current exhibition No Place Like Home: Selections from the Sue and John Wieland Collection of Contemporary Art. Each speaker will offer a five-minute talk about their perspectives on space, place, and urban trends.


Jamin Rowan is Assistant Professor of English. He specializes in U.S. literature since 1865, with a particular focus on urban literature and culture. Dr. Rowan graduated from Boston College in 2008 and has worked at BYU since 2010.

Charlotte Stanford is Associate Teaching Professor of Comparative Arts and Letters. She studies medieval buildings, notably cathedrals, parish churches and hospitals. Dr. Stanford completed an M.A. in Medieval Studies at the University of Connecticut and a Ph.D in Art History at the Pennsylvania State University, and has taught at BYU since 2003.

Jacob Rugh is Assistant Professor of Sociology. He studies housing segregation, racial discrimination, and stratification. Dr. Rugh completed his Master
