Kenneth Hartvigsen

Curator of American Art


Dr. Kenneth Hartvigsen received his PhD and MA from Boston University, specializing in American art and visual culture, after graduating from the University of Utah with a BA in art history. With research interests including American figural painting, popular illustration and print media, and the visual cultures of popular music, he has delivered papers and published on topics as diverse as American sheet music illustration, the visual and material culture of flags, and the visual aesthetics of popular music performance. He has taught art history courses at Boston University, Weber State University, Westminster College, and BYU, and has recently curated exhibitions for the MOA featuring contemporary American artists.
