MAY 9-OCTOBER 19, 1996

As part of Utah’s Centennial celebration, the Museum of Art premiers this exhibition of the state’s oldest art. The exhibit features about 80 photographs of spectacular Utah rock art sites taken by four widely respected western photographers, including BYU’s John Telford. The exhibit groups the pictures in four historical epochs, extending from 6500 BC to the late 1800s. Interpretive educational materials in the exhibit help visitors to recognize and appreciate the styles and subject matter from the different periods. After its close at BYU, this exhibit will travel to several other museums in Utah.
