JANUARY 14-JULY 30, 1999

This exhibition relates selected works from BYU’s permanent collection with major figures and schools of Western art theory in order to acquaint visitors (especially BYU classes) with the time-honored engagement between art philosophy. In addition to highlighting philosophical issues that bear on the often, problematic, relationship between words and images, the exhibition also attempts to bring into question the necessity and status of critical frameworks, encouraging visitors to question and perhaps rethink the space and place of both philosophy and art.
