JUNE 18, 2010—JANUARY 9, 2011

French artist James Tissot began his career painting fashionable society. After visiting the Church of Saint-Sulpice, Tissot experienced a religious vision. He dedicated himself to a ten-year project to illustrate the New Testament. This exhibition is the first comprehensive and critical exhibition to examine Tissot’s ambitious project. Out of a set of 350 watercolors illustrating the Gospels, 150 are included in this exhibition.
