The Louvre Museum opened on this day in 1793, showing 537 paintings. The Louvre is considered to be one of the finest museums in the world and features some of the most famous artworks ever created, including Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Nike of Samothrace, Delacroix’s Liberty Leading the People, and thousands more.
