At the beginning of Holy Week, we contemplate the Christ in His final days of mortality. In viewing Gerome's sculpture of the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, we concentrate not on the crowd waving palms, but on the solitary figure of the Savior. The peaceful yet resolute expression on His face tells of His dedication in fulfilling this difficult mission, while His hand raised in a gesture of blessing reminds us that He did it all for us.
