Howard Chandler Christy (1873-1952)

, Fight or Buy Bonds, Third Liberty Loan, 1917, offset lithograph poster, 39 15/16 x 29 15/16 inches. Brigham Young University Museum of Art, gift of Phillip M. Flammer.
This war bond poster from World War I was issued by the United States Treasury to encourage U.S. citizens to buy bonds to support the war efforts. Today we commemorate the first Secretary of the United States Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, who died on this day in 1804, one day after being shot in a duel with his political rival Aaron Burr.
