Today is the Summer Solstice, the first day of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, today marks the Winter Solstice. The first day of Summer is also the longest day of the year, with some of the northernmost parts of the world receiving a full 24 hours of sunlight.
