Retired Army Officer Visits the MOA

Sherman L. Fleek, Lt. Col. US Army (Ret), Command Historian at the United State Military Academy at West Point, paid a visit to the BYU Museum of Art last night. In this picture Marian Wardle, curator of the upcoming Weir exhibition, talks to Sherman about the painting of Sylvanus Thayer. Thayer is considered as the father of West Point. The portrait of Sylvanus Thayer was painted by Robert W. Weir, one of the Weir artists featured in the upcoming exhibition — The Weir Family, 1820-1920: Expanding the Traditions of American Art. The Weir exhibition opens November 18.
