Brent R. Laycock, "Grandma's Window"

Brent R. Laycock (b.1947), Grandma’s Window, c.1970, serigraph, 21 x 14 1/4 inches. Brigham Young University Museum of Art.

Today is Grandparents’ Day in the United States and the United Kingdon, celebrated annually on the Monday after Labor Day. This day is to celebrate and commemorate all grandparent figures. Grandparents’ Day was officially established in 1978, though it had been celebrated informally since the early 1970s.

This piece, a serigraph by Brent Laycock, depicts who we can assume is his grandmother behind the window.
