In Roman Catholic tradition, today is the day of Our Lady of Sorrows, another name for the Virgin Mary. Our Lady of Sorrows is in reference to the sorrows of her life, with special emphasis on seven particular sorrows. One of these sorrows is the flight into Egypt following the birth of Jesus Christ.
