Joseph Christian Leyendecker (1874-1951), USA Bonds-Third Liberty Loan Campaign- Boy Scouts of America Weapons for Liberty, 1917, poster, 30 x 20 inches. Brigham Young University Museum of Art, gift of Phillip M. Flammer, 2010.

As we contemplate the great blessings of Liberty, we reflect on the sacrifice and dedication required by the maintenance of freedom. This Poster, made by J.C. Leyendecker to promote the Liberty Loan Campaign of World War I, showcases the cooperative spirit evident in America’s greatest moments, those harrowing times when all sections of society, from the old to the young, commit themselves to serving each other and the greater good.
