Conserving a Painting: Before and After
In 2013, fine art conservators from the Western Center for the Conservation of Fine Arts in Denver, CO, came to the Museum of Art to perform conservation work on Carl Bloch’s painting. The conservation team painstakingly treated the canvas support, cleaned off decades of dirt, and filled in paint losses, and applied a new varnish. Compare the before and after pictures below!
