English writer John Milton died on this day in 1674. He is most well-known for his epic poem

Paradise Lost, which explores the journey of mortality, with emphasis on the story of the Fall and Adam and Eve. This artwork by Wierix depicts Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
