In many cultures throughout the world, Midsummer celebrations have taken place on or around June 24. Midsummer, the name given to the festivities that coincide with the summer solstice, has been celebrated for centuries, beginning in ancient Pagan culture. Today's Artwork of the Day attributed to William Keith depicts a day around this Midsummer time of year.
