Originally from California, James Blankenship is an artist and professor emeritus in Boise State University’s art department. Blankenship’s work has been displayed around the world, including Norway, Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Korea. He is also a member of prestigious groups like the Los Angeles Printmaking Society and the Art Students League of New York.
In this painting, Blankenship portrays a snowy landscape in Honeyville, Utah. While winter is oftentimes depicted as void of color, Blankenship adds vibrant reds and oranges to watercolor, bringing the scene to life. The rich hues not only disrupt the monotony of winter but also bring warmth and energy to the painting, helping the viewer experience the season in a new light.
