David Linn, "One"

The BYU Museum of Art is proud to present a new exhibition entitled The Interpretation Thereof: Contemporary LDS Art and Scripture. This is the second in our series of introducing one of the artworks featured in the exhibition. David Linn's piece

One invites introspection and contemplation, providing both visual and cerebral interest. Ribbons of cloth intertwine to form a spherical orb. As material used to drape, cover, and bind, the cloth becomes a metaphor with many possible interpretations, perhaps relating to existence, covenant, and the eternal journal of the human soul.Dramatically lit in an ethereal setting, the hovering form exudes a profound endlessness. What is your interpretation of this beautiful piece?
