Mahonri M. Young (1877-1957),

Tired Dancers After Degas, charcoal, crayon, color pencil and graphite, 6 15/16 x 9 5/8 inches. Brigham Young University Museum of Art, purchase/gift of the Mahonri M. Young Estate.
Edgar Degas, famous French painter of the Impressionist period, was born on this day in 1834. Degas is known for his paintings of dancers and ballerina, using these subjects to display his ability of painting the human form, but also to explore the less-than-glamorous 'backstage' of the entertainment venues of the day.
