The Family Arts Festival is now Summer at the MOA, a summer-long celebration where kids of all ages can play, create, and explore as they interact with MOA masterpieces.
On Tuesday, August 4, join us for an engaging introduction to the art of metal leaf gilding. In this hands-on experience, participants will explore the full gilding process using plaster casts—similar to those used by the team at the Museum of Art in restoring casts of Gates of Paradise by Lorenzo Ghiberti.
Guided by experienced instructors, participants will be led step-by-step through preparing plaster surfaces and applying layers of metal leaf, gaining both practical skills and a deeper appreciation for this historic craft.
This event is free, but registration via Eventbrite is required and will go live in July.
Recommended ages: 10 and up
