ROMARE BEARDEN

ARTIST, ACTIVIST, AND ADVOCATE OF THE PROMISED LAND

OCTOBER 15, 2022 – JANUARY 22, 2023

Witness the world of Romare Bearden, one of America’s most prolific 20th-century artists. As a participant in key episodes of the African-American experience, including the Great Migration, the Harlem Renaissance, the Great Depression, World War II, and the Civil Rights Movement, Bearden forged an artistic style and a voice for change unlike any other.

In this exhibition, you’ll see dozens of his unique screenprints, lithographs, posters, collages, and more; each one is a testament to not only his artistry, but his activism and his advocacy for something greater. After you look through his eyes, you’ll never see the world the same way again.

The highest order of the human experience is in building a fit world where we can all live in peace.
